Climate Champions: Membangun Kesadaran Iklim pada Anak melalui Experiential Learning

Abstract

Perubahan iklim merupakan tantangan global yang berdampak luas terhadap lingkungan dan kehidupan manusia. Upaya peningkatan kesadaran terhadap isu ini perlu dilakukan secara lintas generasi, termasuk pada anak usia sekolah dasar sebagai agen perubahan masa depan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran iklim dan perilaku peduli lingkungan melalui penerapan model Climate Champions, yaitu pendidikan lingkungan berbasis experiential learning dengan praktik pertanian organik skala rumahan. Program dilaksanakan selama tiga bulan di SDIT Al Jabar, Kabupaten Sragen, dengan melibatkan siswa kelas IV dan V. Metode pelaksanaan terdiri atas tiga tahap: (1) persiapan, meliputi koordinasi dengan pihak sekolah dan pembangunan screen house; (2) implementasi, melalui kegiatan penanaman sayuran dan buah, pembuatan pupuk organik dari limbah dapur, serta penerapan tanaman refugia sebagai pengendalian hayati; dan (3) evaluasi, dilakukan melalui observasi, catatan harian siswa, serta wawancara dengan guru dan orang tua. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap peduli lingkungan pada siswa. Anak-anak menjadi lebih memahami hubungan antara aktivitas manusia dan perubahan iklim, lebih disiplin menjaga kebersihan, serta menunjukkan inisiatif untuk menanam di rumah. Program ini menunjukkan bahwa experiential learning berbasis pertanian organik efektif sebagai sarana pendidikan lingkungan yang kontekstual dan berkelanjutan, sekaligus memperkuat sinergi antara sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat.
